Our Foundations training goes deeper into these concepts because we don't want students leaving their course wondering why their clients are losing their lashes.
You Should Understand Adhesive Instead of Being Afraid of It
One of the most confusing parts of becoming a new lash artist is adhesive.
You've probably heard rules about exact humidity percentages, temperatures and drying times.
We take a different approach.
Rather than teaching you to panic when your lash room doesn't hit one “perfect” number, we teach you how adhesive behaves and how to recognize what it's doing in your environment.
Once you understand the science behind your product, troubleshooting becomes much easier.
You Should Be Taught to Work Toward Full Coverage
We don't teach students that leaving large portions of healthy natural lashes untouched is the end goal.
Ultimately, we want our artists working toward full, safe coverage.
When you're brand new, perfect application comes before rushing. Every lash you apply should be isolated correctly, attached securely and appropriate for the natural lash supporting it.
As your skill and speed develop, your coverage should develop with them.
Even baby lashes can be safely included when they're given an extension appropriate for their size and strength.
You Should Learn More Than One Lash Map
A universal lash map is a great place to begin.
It's not where lash styling ends.
We introduce beginners to a strong universal foundation first so they can concentrate on mastering their application. From there, artists can begin developing their understanding of styling, eye shapes and customization.
The goal isn't to make every client look the same.
The goal is to eventually understand how to create a set specifically for the person lying on your bed.
